For the past week, we have been driving our son to and from work every day, why he waits for the mechanic to get the rim for his car in, as he cracked one. This is a 45 minute drive each way, so us driving him is essentially 4 hours a day in the car.
This ordeal lead to a conversation with our grandfather about how he remembered when there was a time you could walk into any junkyard and pick up a used rim for no more than $10, and nearly all car rims were the same ‘standard size’ and easily swapped out from model to model, and often even brand to brand. It sure does not work that way these days, even windshield wipers come in so many different combinations of size that nearly every model requires it’s own specific wipers.
Hopefully the part comes in on some time today and our kiddo can go back to driving himself !

When it comes to water animals, Hippos easily make the top 3 for us. I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas is one of our most beloved Christmas songs, tho a very special re-write titled I Want A Gay Reindeer For Christmas, written by the one and only Princess Cori also sits near and dear to our hearts.
There was no question that when we embarked upon this Indiana Jones and the Sunken Temple adventure for this post, that there would be a Hippo vs Hippo scene involved.

We know the lyrics may say Rocky Mountain Hiiiighhhhhhh Colorado, but todays scene needed an adjustment. The new little mancave from DRD at ALPHA Event, certainly covers the Smoky part with its stash of bud, lighter and a nice little bong as well as many other goodies. The Reece set from LouChara shares the High duties, with its airplane theme, and the Old Bill jeep from 777 gets us up that Mountain with ease. So goodbye Colorado and hello Tennessee and North Carolina.

Today we are taking a roadtrip to the down and dirty nitty gritty streets of Cherishville – Detroit. It seemed appropriate to shoot the 777 Songbird here, in honor of all the amazing musical talent that has come out of Detroit, before and after the Motown era.
To name a handful, we have Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Madonna, Eminem and Stevie Wonder. These few names are not even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the mountain of talent spilling forth. Enjoy this playlist of Detroit talent !

New York pizza is unlike the mass-produced chain pizza found in most places. NY style pizza is hand-tossed and intentionally light on the sauce. Traditionally, it’s made with fresh mozzarella cheese and toppings such as pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, bell peppers, onion and anchovies.
Pizza has a long history in New York City, longer than its history in any other place in America. Pizza was first brought to this country by Italian immigrants in New York, and they founded the first pizzeria in the United States in 1905.
The first pizzeria, Lombardi’s, was opened in 1905 by Gennaro Lombardi in the Little Italy neighborhood of Manhattan, and is still open and running today.
The traditional New York style of making pizza produces a thin crust with light sauce. The crust is crispy around the edges but soft enough throughout the pie so that large slices can be folded in half and eaten on the go. In fact, this style of eating New York pizza inspired the first pizza sellers to sell it by the slice.
Lombardi’s started out by selling whole pizzas for five cents each, but because most people at the time were struggling immigrants who couldn’t afford a whole pie, Lombardi decided to sell individual slices to the workers of New York City. He wrapped each slice in paper to prevent it from dripping, and he tied up the wrapper with a piece of string.
There are now more than 400 pizzerias in New York City alone.
