As to be expected life around the RL house has been full of purging, packing and generally being exhausted. You never truly realize how many things you own until you have to decide what is worth making the cut into the $200 per box to ship overseas ! That price tag is the make or break line for a great many items that have been part of our collective “stuff”. All important items have made the cut. Sentimental items that are obscenely heavy, like the kitchen aid mixer, will find new homes amongst family members. We are happy with what we are taking with us, the only thing not making the journey with us that we wish fit in a box is our kiddo, but he is a grown adult and is time for him to make his own way in the world as the responsible adult he has grown up to be.

2024 has certainly rolled in with a bang for a New Year around the Clique This house. We are about to embark on some giant adventures and changes in our RL. Navigating the immigration waters so that we can join Troy in the UK, and a wedding date booked for November. The amount on our RL plate is increasing so that does mean making adjustments to our SL commitments. We adore all of our sponsors, and have been very blessed to have been able to work with so many who have become friends along the way.

Christmas Gold

There was a man, once rich, who had fallen on hard times. Now poor, he had three daughters of an age to be married. In those days a young woman’s family had to have something of value, a dowry, to offer prospective bridegrooms. The larger the dowry, the better the chance a young woman would find a good husband. Without a dowry, a woman was unlikely to marry. This poor man’s daughters, without dowries, were therefore destined to be sold into slavery, or worse.

Word of the family’s misfortune reached Nicholas, who had the wealth inherited from his parents. Coming in secret by night, he tossed a bag of gold into the house. It sailed in through an open window, landing in a stocking* left before the fire to dry. What joy in the morning when the gold was discovered! The first daughter soon wed.

Not long after, another bag of gold again appeared mysteriously. The second daughter was married. The father, now very anxious to know who the secret benefactor was, kept watch during the night.

A third bag of gold landed inside the house and the watchful father leaped up and caught the fleeing donor. “Ah, Nicholas, it is you!” cried the father, “You have saved my daughters from certain disaster.”

Nicholas, embarrassed, and not wishing to be known, begged the man to keep his identity secret. “You must thank God alone for providing these gifts in answer to your prayers for deliverance.”

This is the origin of the custom of hanging a stocking for Santa Claus. In some versions the story has a shoe, leading to the European custom of leaving shoes for St. Nicholas.

It is also the origin for the tradition of put oranges in the stockings at Christmas. The color of the oranges replaced the bag of gold from the story, thus keeping with the idea of the story in a more affordable way.

Glitter is the herpes of the craft world. Everyone should be aware of this fact by now and use it accordingly, but cmon who doesn’t love glitter ? If you happen to be unlucky enough to have carpet in your craft room, small bits of paper, fabric or thread also become guests that never leave.

We are quilters, and so thread and fabric trimmings are a permanent resident in our carpet. We would love to live in a house where we could have a non carpeted floor in a craft room, but alas, we do not. We have just purchased our first cutting machine as well, and are anxiously awaiting delivery. This will add paper and vinyl weeding bits to the carpet menagerie !

This new release from Crowded Houses offers so many options to play with just from the hidden bunker entrance you can see from the picture. The bunker itself is modifiable which makes blending the mesh covering super easy to match with your sim terrain It also works really well as a skybox and fit easily on our 64 x 64 parcel. Our parcel covenant does not allow terraforming above a certain level, which many of you may fun into as an issue. It is easy to use the bunker at ground level if you keep the living levels under water level, which actually would make this an awesome home for those who love the land as well as the water. I chose to take it up to the sky instead, and used prims to extend the ground level in front of the entrance slightly to fill my parcel size. The area above the bunker is large enough for an entire other house if you like, or a gazebo for outdoor entertaining.

I could not give you a teaser of the outside without showing you just what goodies you can fit inside!

As you can see, the interior living area of the bunker is quite modern but that does not mean you can not make it feel as homey as you would if it had windows. The main living area is quite spacious and offers access to two larger rooms on either side of the center botanical garden space. There are also 3 smaller rooms as well as a fully built in modern sleek kitchen. On your way down from the bunkers entrance you will also pass by an armory, a command center as well as a large vault which is fully stocked with gold bars!
