Broadchurch Binge

We have just recently finished binge watching 3 seasons of the UK Broadchurch with Troy. As with so many of the shows we have enjoyed watching, this was no exception. Crime dramas are some of our most favorites, and we have now moved on to another UK one called Unforgotten. We only watch shows together with Troy, but we very much enjoy listening to audio books on our own, and funnily enough we are nearly done with a UK crime drama series by Joy Ellis, the Jackman and Evans series. If you are in need of a comfy place to snuggle and watch or listen to some of your own favorites, the Urban Farmer set at InsurreKtion is a fantastic place to do it.

Swans In The Garden

Swans are some of the most beautiful water fowl to behold, they also rate in the top 3 for viciousness. They are some mean bitches, especially if there are eggs or cygnets nearby. cygnets is the word for baby swans, in case you were unaware of that, now you know. Canadian geese and barnyard geese also rank right up there on the mean fowl scale !

Heirloom Furniture

Family heirlooms, those things passed down through the generations which are sometimes cherished, and other times end up at the antique or thrift shops. We have several pieces that qualify, including two secretary desks, one of which still has a visible ink bottle ring on its writing surface. We remember being very young and our great grandfather allowing us to play at his desk and being thrilled at all the treasures we would find hidden inside the little cubbies.

Our grandparents have a gorgeous heirloom bedroom set that is huge and insanely heavy. It is a set that we always imagined having ourselves when we were older, but now that we are older and our grandparents are nearing their 90’s we are fairly certain that we have no room in our home for it to fit, so perhaps it would be better suited for one of our cousins who own their own homes and have room for it.

Yemon Lellow

When we were about 12 or so, and our younger cousin about 3-ish, she used to pronounce Yellow as Lellow. We spent an entire weekend laser focused on teaching her how to pronounce it correctly, and it worked! We were so pleased with ourselves that we were able to teach her something, and could not wait to show off her new correct pronunciations to her mother when she picked her up. Our Aunt was utterly annoyed, because of course she thought Lellow was cute, and let’s face it, it really is !

Unexpected Dragonlings

Dragonlings are such an integral part of Kait & Troy’s relationship, we could not pass up the chance to showcase them. We do adore our fantasy scenes as much as our modern decor ones, and this was no exception.

While getting this scene together we realized that we had totally derped and forgotten to blog 2 holiday items from Bloom last month, and wondered how we could incorporate them into a non holiday post, and this was it ! The glowing orbs in the sky and on the floor are actually Christmas decorations that we have slightly modified from their original state to give the fantasy glowy effect that we loved.

For the Bloom – Suspended Bauble Tree we used Edit Face and turned the hanging strings invisible, then turned down the opacity of the baubles themselves and added a slight glow effect to achieve the floating orb look.

Similarly, for the Bloom Originals – Wall Tree we turned the outside metal tree faces invisible and added a glow and lower opacity for the baubles to add some glowy orbs to the floor.

Remember, that many modifiable items can be utilized in ways other than their originally intended form to achieve a totally new look. If you want to add a little sparkle to your scenes, check in your holiday folders and see what you could be using year round instead !
