Days of Thanksgiving #14.

Today we are thankful for being raised to enjoy and appreciate books. Reading was never something that was forced upon us, except in school of course when you were required to read what the rest of the class was. We were read to every night, from as early on as we can remember, and we continued to be read to, long after we were able to read ourselves. It was part of the bedtime routine, and fostered in us, a love to read on our own.

One of our favorites was and still remains J.R.R Tolkien. The worlds those stories opened up to us, lead us to wanting to find and explore more of them. Fantasy fiction with a medieval feel, magic, dragons, elves, dwarves. So many adventures to be had, and ones we still love to this day, with the world of Elan from Michael J Sullivan, for whom our name Arysta was taken. If you have not read this outstanding series, we highly recommend it. While we do not find the time to sit and read like we used to, we do fully utilize our Audible and Libby apps for audio books, and listen rather than watch the television during the day. Movies and shows are for after Troy is done with work and we are snuggled together.

Frog Shroom Royalty

We all know the story, of the Princess who kisses the frog and he turns into a handsome Prince. In the original Grimm version of the story, the frog’s spell was broken when the princess threw the frog against the wall, at which he transformed back into a prince, while in modern versions the transformation is triggered by the princess kissing the frog. In other early versions, it was sufficient for the frog to spend the night on the princess’ pillow.

Then there is the whole lick the toad to get high trend. Funny enough that it is actually a law on the books in Los Angeles. It is actually illegal in many countries across the globe, because licking toads may send you on a trip, but it is highly likely the trip will be to the hospital, or the morgue. Better to stick to the Shrooms, just be careful which ones of those you eat too !

Even if the Grimm Fables and the Psychedelic amphibian adventures are not what their reputations make them out to be, there are some Fairytales that do come true, and you get to kiss and lick something much better than a frog or a toad ! Sometimes, you get to kiss a lion !
