Today we are thankful for a future we are looking forward to and are ready for. We mentioned it yesterday, so today is a bit of an extension of that. When the grips of a bad depressive state are on us, the idea of a future is nearly non existent. We struggle to look forward to the next minute, the idea of the next year seems impossible. So, we are thankful that this year, we are in a place where the future we see, is a bright and happy one.

Today we are thankful for our greatest temptation, Troy. We had thought about saving Troy for Thanksgiving Day, but just like any other temptation we simply could not resist. Our lives have been changed in so many ways for the better over the past nearly 5 years, that we can not even begin to list them all here, nor do we need to, because he already knows all of them. He will be the very first to tell you that he never did anything, and he is right, we did all the work, but it was with his love and support that we felt safe enough to do that work. we are stronger now than we have ever been, and that is not an exaggeration. the love we all share is the most healing and secure love we have ever known.

Today we give thanks for the ever expanding selection of body types available in SL, and the creators who endeavor to keep up with all of them, as well as the mods for the existing ones. Before we left on our hiatus, the ReBorn body had not long been released, and we were all quite happy with the Legacy bodies we were already wearing. The additional expense of buying yet another, 3 times over, was not in our budget. When we returned and decided to create the new account, we tried several of the thicc girl bodies, and reborn was hands down the winner for all 3 of us. We loved the look we were able to achieve with it, and it felt quite natural to us. Today we are wearing not only our Reborn body, but some Juicy Roll and Soft Thigh mods.
I mentioned on the 7th that the new round of Unik had started, and today I bring you more goodies!

Today, we are thankful for music. Music has always played a role in our lives, starting with piano lessons at the age of 5. Then it was clarinet, flute & baritone in the school band and chorus. Musicals with drama class was always a favorite, not to mention numerous Broadway shows due to living a train ride away from NYC.
We were raised by our grandparents, but still maintained a close relationship with our mother and father, so this lead to a love of music that ranges from the 50’s straight through to the current music of the time we were growing up. Genre’s from Classical to 2 Live Crew ( we still remember watching that cassette tape melt in the woodstove after our grandmother caught us listening to it and threw it in there, twice, no more Me So Horny !)
We can also thank music for bringing us Troy, as the Live Music circles in SL is how we met in the first place. That lead to a wonderful 3 years managing performers with Music Speaks Management. Yes, we certainly have alot of thanks for music.
This Glitter Jumpsuit from FEC for the November round of Unik had us humming Night Fever from the moment we unpacked it, and thus, today’s theme was decided.
I am also rocking the Tennese v2 skin and shape from Cocoa Matrix, also for this round of Unik. Version 2 with dark makeup is a Unik event exclusive. Unik opens today November 7th and runs until November 28th.

There is something about darkness that is both terrifying and captivating. Vampires, for example, are traditionally meant to be frightening and terrifying creatures, and yet, they are also romanticized in the very next breath. Like moths to flames, we are drawn to those things that our rational minds know we should flee from.

Oh the number of times we have said the words “Make Me”. As a taunt, as a tease, as a brat, with confidence. Nearly as versatile as the word Fuck, it can be used in so many ways, and its meaning and intent changing with a simple tone of voice.
When it comes to helping kick Cancer’s ass, it is never a matter of make me, but count me in ! Today is the official opening of I Pink I Can ( IPIC ) and the talented and giving Alessia Setner at Second Nature Jewellery has the special edition Bella Necklace for sale with all proceeds going to the cause. Along with the many talented designers offering goods for sale, and even more offering items for auction, there will be live music, dance shows, DJ sets, musical productions and so many other exciting things to see and do. This does not even include the spookatcular Pirates Gold haunt and experience that everyone must go to at least once, or twice!
When we came black to blogging just a few months ago, we made the decision to choose one base look. The look that we wore in our daily SL lives, would be the look that we blogged as. Today, we made an exception to bring you some very talented creators items. the Unik event has such a wide range of products and designers that there really is something for everyone.
While we endeavor not to make changes to items that we blog, we did for one item today. The UpBeatz – Avery Shape was created for use with LeLutka Avalon head, and not the Ora that we wear. The only modification made was to round out the jaw shape to suit the difference in heads, no other modifications were made.

Recently, a mutual friend had a bright lightbulb moment that a creator friend of hers, would love our blogger style and threw us together. The initial conversation with Vin Aydin Raven-Mysterious proved just how right she was. I made a comment during that conversation about how at times our creativity goes so far out of the box that it should have its own gravitational field, and thus, the theme for this very first post as blogger for Be My Mannequin needed to lack gravity. This Earth Is Hard pose is available at The Darkness till October 28th.

Today is the 7th of the month and that means it is time for a new round of Unik !

This adorable Citrouille pose set from PiXit includes 8 poses plus mirror versions, as well as pumpkins galore for holding as well as decor.
One of my favorite items to play with for this post, is one that you can not see itself in the above photo, but one that is very present. It is the Posejector 2 from Image Photography.
We all have our favorite photography tools and pose huds or stands, I know that I do, or did. The Posejector 2 is packed full of features including being a pose HUD and a lighting system all in one. It not only allows you to pose and light yourself, but others in the scene as well, all from one HUD. I have posed both Troy and myself in this photo using one HUD, as well as set the lighting.
As with any new tool, there is a learning curve. The basic use and setup is fairly straight forward if you are used to working with other pose or lighting systems, it just takes some fiddling and playing with it to get used to this HUD’s specific tools and locations of what you want to do. I will for sure be using it on many photos in the future and can not wait to see what else it is capable of.
