We absolutely love a kitchen, it is quite possible we are more addicted to second life kitchens than any other furnishings available, tho it is a close running with landscaping. This Jelica Kitchen from LouChara is no exception. The farmhouse kitchen vibes are strong and even includes an icebox and not a refrigerator.

Last night we finished the last episode of season 2 Gentleman Jack. Sadly it had not been picked up for the 3rd and final season, but the 2 seasons that were made were fantastic. I just had to use a scene from the show on the television, since that is what we have been binging for the last week or so.

If you are not familiar with the show, it is a historical docu-drama about the relationship between Anne Lister and Ann Walker. The two were married in Britain’s first known lesbian wedding At the time in 1834 it was neither legal nor recognized by the Holy Trinity Church in York where the two took the sacrament together on a fine Easter Sunday morning, and considered the act their own version of taking vows to each other, entering into a marriage unto themselves.

The story of their relationship is one that was written by Anne Lister herself, as she was a prolific diarist, and her personal diaries total 26 volumes written between 1806 – 1840, and included over 5 million words, 1/6th of which were written in her own cypher code. The code was needed to disguise the quite graphically detailed tellings of her sexual encounters and love affairs with those of the fairer sex.

Ah the thoughts of running away to some tropical paradise with the sun and the sand and not a care in the world at least until the logical side of the brain kicks in. Sand in all the wrong places, sunburn, insects, remembering its always the pretty tropical islands where they build the underground bunkers to hide the military experiment compounds. Happy February 1st ! I would say that it meant Valentines Day was nearly upon us, but let’s be honest, we have all been looking at Valentines decor and candy in the stores since well before Christmas. Sadly, this is a phenomenon we commented on before Christmas as well. All this ‘ lead up ‘ to holidays feels like it is taking more and more away from the holiday itself. By the time the actual holiday rolls around, we are sick of looking at its paraphernalia.

Happy New Year ! Welcome 2023, let’s hope that you behave better than 2022 did. As anyone with children know, trying to plan party food for an event requires a buffet type mix. Luckily in Second Life it is easy enough to do with the wide variety of offerings, I chose not to make a total mess of my new DICTATORSHOP kitchen and ordered take away Pizza and Chinese from Junk Food, I even got some yummy chocolates to finish it off.

Today’s post truly made us realize just how much happier we are focusing only on home & decor posts, and not trying to juggle fashion posts as well. Setting up a scene feels so comfortable and natural, where our fashion posts always had an undercurrent of frustration and felt forced. We are not those kinds of girls who enjoy changing clothes and playing dress up, we are the girls that are perfectly happy wearing the same favorite jeans and tee while we stand or snuggle with Troy on our platforms for a week at a time. We do change clothes if we are going to be social and see the same people that already saw us in the outfit we have on, we do have some standards !

Days of Thanksgiving #22

Today we give thanks for a life that feels ‘just right’. Yes, there are always going to be things we wish could be better, that is inevitable no matter what life brings you, but life feels good right now. Our life with Troy has reached a place where we can see the future together, we are planning our first RL visit next fall. This is something that we never, ever, allowed ourselves to even dream about when we started, or even 2 years ago. Life is not perfect, but it still feels good.

The Jian Bears sure do feel like things are just right for their winter hibernation on the Chez Moi Yara Rattan Bed and DICTATORSHOP Heritage Bench.
