Happy New Year ! Welcome 2023, let’s hope that you behave better than 2022 did. As anyone with children know, trying to plan party food for an event requires a buffet type mix. Today’s post truly made us realize just how much happier we are focusing only on home & decor posts, and not trying to juggle fashion posts as well. Setting up a scene feels so comfortable and natural, where our fashion posts always had an undercurrent of frustration and felt forced. We are not those kinds of girls who enjoy changing clothes and playing dress up, we are the girls that are perfectly happy wearing the same favorite jeans and tee while we stand or snuggle with Troy on our platforms for a week at a time. We do change clothes if we are going to be social and see the same people that already saw us in the outfit we have on, we do have some standards !

Today we give thanks for a life that feels ‘just right’. Yes, there are always going to be things we wish could be better, that is inevitable no matter what life brings you, but life feels good right now. Our life with Troy has reached a place where we can see the future together, we are planning our first RL visit next fall. This is something that we never, ever, allowed ourselves to even dream about when we started, or even 2 years ago. Life is not perfect, but it still feels good.
The Jian Bears sure do feel like things are just right for their winter hibernation on the Chez Moi Yara Rattan Bed and DICTATORSHOP Heritage Bench.

Today we are extremely thankful for our Lister-Lake family, who are currently in Arizona basking in the glow of their recent RL wedding, and the upcoming bigger ceremony wedding! We can not even begin to express how happy we are for them, and look forward to being even closer family as we all move forward together !

Today we are thankful for having a home, both RL and SL. While our RL home may not ever be something that graces Better Homes and Gardens, and our SL home is a grass textured platform in the sky, they are home to us. They are that ‘safe space’ away from the rest of the world where no one cares that we live in pajama pants.

Today we are thankful for good internet. It may sound a little questionable that internet service makes our list of things to be thankful for, but in all honesty, our internet service is nearly as vital to our mental well being as any medication.
We have been involved in one form of online chat or another since 1993, with good ol’ TC/PIP chat from a campus computer lab. Screens that only showed neon green or orange text, and no graphics. After that it was AOHell and IRC, then Excite Chat, VP Chat, Halsoft, Voodoo, Yak, and then in 2007 we landed in Second Life. Hard to think about it now, but this month marks Nakari’s 15th Rezday. So much has changed, and yet so much has stayed the same.

When we are setting up a scene, we will often times ask Troy ” this look okay to you ? “. While we will always consider his answers biased, we also value them because we know they are honest. We still have difficulty accepting that our photos are anything special, tho we are getting better at accepting that others think so. We do have our moments of being blown away by our own work at times, but it is far rarer than some may think. We have a few friends who also blog, who’s work makes us drool, who think they are nothing special but drool on ours ! So is the way of the world.

The buildings, stairs, pathways and patios from the Noveny – Resort Cabin Pack have modern lines yet rustic organic vibes. Recently we had a conversation with one of our SL sisters about decorating for the holidays, and we had to chuckle about how we have no patience for decorating in RL, but love doing it in SL. When it comes to holiday decor we have an attention span of about 2 weeks, unfortunately commercialism thinks it needs to shove every holiday down your throat 3 months before it gets here, so by the time the holiday actually comes around, you have zero desire to put it up, only to have to take it all back down again in 2 weeks.
Thankfully in SL, decorating and redecorating is as easy as a click of the mouse, and an inventory search for keywords, or if you have a Kait, just find the appropriately named holiday folder in your #Seasonal Decor folder.
I was so excited to see the Kendrick Cabin from The Green Door for TLC. You can pick it up yourself at TLC from October 18th – November 10th. The Kendrick Cabin is a cozy wood cabin with one bedroom, a kitchen/dining area, living area and bathroom. Features the home control system for security and texture change. Only 80 LI, copy/mod.
The cabin makes the perfect rural home for this InkMe Deads and Ghosts set which you can pick up at Halloweentown. The set comes with gravestones, floating ghosts, hanging skeletons, covered bodies, a giant skull and jack-o-lanterns.
