Now that we are officially into Spring, and Easter is just around the corner, we thought we would give you a little bit of that pre-holiday sugar rush. Since there are no chocolate bunny’s on the table, we figured you might love some fluffy ones instead.

Last night we finished the last episode of season 2 Gentleman Jack. Sadly it had not been picked up for the 3rd and final season, but the 2 seasons that were made were fantastic. I just had to use a scene from the show on the television, since that is what we have been binging for the last week or so.
If you are not familiar with the show, it is a historical docu-drama about the relationship between Anne Lister and Ann Walker. The two were married in Britain’s first known lesbian wedding At the time in 1834 it was neither legal nor recognized by the Holy Trinity Church in York where the two took the sacrament together on a fine Easter Sunday morning, and considered the act their own version of taking vows to each other, entering into a marriage unto themselves.
The story of their relationship is one that was written by Anne Lister herself, as she was a prolific diarist, and her personal diaries total 26 volumes written between 1806 – 1840, and included over 5 million words, 1/6th of which were written in her own cypher code. The code was needed to disguise the quite graphically detailed tellings of her sexual encounters and love affairs with those of the fairer sex.
If you are interested in learning more about her diaries you can find out all you would love to know by visiting the West Yorkshire Archive Service Blog.

Today we bring you an interior shot from the HISA – The Windburrow. The interior walls of this house are done in a wattle and daub style which was very common historically.
Wattle and daub is a composite building method used for making walls and buildings, in which a woven lattice of wooden strips called wattle is daubed with a sticky material usually made of some combination of wet soil, clay, sand, animal dung (as mentioned yesterday, even more poop) and straw. Wattle and daub has been used for at least 6,000 years and is still an important construction method in many parts of the world. Many historic buildings include wattle and daub construction.
So now that you have had your history lesson, you can head on over to Simply Shelby and grab up the 18th Century Hall Bench which would be right at home in a roleplay or modern setting. What was old is new again !

As any blogger will tell you, it is a rare day when a photo comes together exactly as you had intended from start to finish. Such is the case with today’s photo. It all started with this Whisky Firepit from GOOSE which is at Cosmopolitan. Even tho the kegs are whiskey and not mead, I was still drawn back to our former gorean and medieval roleplay days, which made me snatch up the Simply Shelby – Medieval Weapon Rack Set, and was quickly followed by The Green Door – Secret Cave.
It is rare that we have trouble setting a scene once we have a clear vision in our heads but for some reason this one took more time than the usual. The modern whiskey decor was mixing up the rest of my vision. Then Troy chimed in with the idea that perhaps it was a troop of lazy re-enactors who were only in it for the fun of dressing up like vikings and getting drunk so they were not as fussed about authenticity and just got whiskey barrels instead ! Problem solved !

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing”
– George Bernard Shaw
Nothing in our life proves this quote more true than our Mother ! Our mother is 64 years old, and more often than not, we are constantly asked if we are sisters and not mother and daughter. Blessing and a curse, because it means she looks younger than she is or we look older, not sure which is worse !
Playhouse Furniture Included in pack or available separately
In the past 4 years, our mother has broken into her best friends barn, and decorated her cows in santa hats, reindeer antlers and LED Christmas lights. She committed that act of breaking and decorating while on her way to the mall, where she was dressed in a full Grinch costume, and went to stand in line to sit on Santa’s lap and ask him what the deal was with all this good cheer. Much to the delight of all the children, and parents, present. That, is our mum. I hope we inherited her never ending child spirit along with the love for adult humor and snarky comments.

I just love it when a plan falls apart, and then comes back together in an even better way than the original one ! That is precisely what happened with this post today. I had picked up the super cute Gingerbread House from The Green Door, which is available at The Fifty and was so excited to see the new cuteness from Simply Shelby, that I actually clicked the wrong item from Blogotex and got the Candy Cane Gateway to go along with the Candy Cane Signs and Christmas Gumdrop Madness instead of a different bit of cuteness that I will show you in a later post. As you can see, it all worked out spectacularly, and even more so than my original brainstorm.
It was a no brainer to see that the Winter Buddies from Bee Designs are right at home in such a sugary sweet wonderland !

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate 1/3 cup white granulated sugar 4 cups whole milk 1 pinch salt 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
In a 2-quart saucepan, place the chocolate, sugar, milk, and salt. Over medium-low heat, stir gently with whisk until the chocolate melts and the mixture is well blended.
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with a spoonful of marshmallow creme or whipped cream, if desired.
If you only have semi-sweet or sweetened chocolate available, you may not need to add any sugar. Melt the chocolate and milk mixture first, taste it, then decide if it needs a tablespoon or two of sugar.
